I like to think fondly of Will Roger’s first time on the radio, feet planted, the whole world ahead.Wicked tongue in his smile and a cowboy’s hitch to his slacks.
The Will Rogers Museum outside of Tulsa was a wonderful find. It was a cool morning and it was empty. We could have spent all day there. What a dude this Will was. He owned the world, constantly quirked and people listened, a voice of common sense and jousting honesty, read by a daily country, editorializing, roasting, all those newspapers that carried him in an age when newspapers held liege, and all the while he was a hillbilly movie star and aviation fanatic, and he brought a horse with him to every country he visited.
