3 Cheers to Pops’ Good Health
Having had a full look inside today, from both ends, Pops reports a clean bill of health. This is powerful good news as the big C stays three years now at bay. He had been uptight about going in, having put The Look off for too long. But today’s look sees nothing but throat and guts and that’s what we want. It’s worth noting that this fine man is a living example of how well socialized medicine – Medicare – works in this country. His biggest expense in the whole ordeal of beating cancer was parking. Single payer, the US Government, health care has added many fine years to my father’s life, and all without bankrupting him. This is yet again a bit of the wiggle room in the rational thought that guides our capitalist society, along with nationalizing banks, car companies, etc….. And all the while we of the richest country do get quite sick and all too often that means we get poor and die. Here’s an interesting article about a study who’s results “belie the notion held by many American politicians that health care in this country is the best in the world. That may be true at a handful of pre-eminent medical centers, but it is hardly true for the care provided to a huge portion of the population.”

Tell ya pop congrats on the clean bill of health! Tell him he’s a very lucky man to be able to watch his grandchildren grow up! I’m so happy to hear that he’s doing very well. It’s been awhile since you posted anything about him. It’s also nice to see all the new photos up at the website. I don’t have any grandparents left. My grandmother (my mom’s mom) died this year in her 80′s and she was the last one alive. I’m very happy to have both parents alive and well though. Tell your pops I wish him happy holidays and may his days be filled with love, warmth and harmony! Have a great weekend Meeno.
what type of cancer was it? My father has just been diagnosed and I have been spending the last few days struggling with the Tenncare offices to get him some health care before the chemo starts. Its a mess.
Great shot – the contrast of the warm oranges and reds against the black table along with the incredible natural light–
–but my favorite part, the beauty of the moment, the smiles and the interaction– pure joy
its a keeper on so many levels
P.S. : Congrats on the happy news
